Ministerial Appointment: Tinubu failed to give adequate consideration to Defence, Youth ministries – Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju.

Deji Adeyanju, a sociopolitical activist, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Defence.

He claimed Tinubu didn't take enough care while choosing the defence and youth ministries.

The youth, he said, have enormous potential and play a crucial role in advancing Nigeria's social, economic, and political development.

Adeyanju made the following statement, which is excerpted below: "While I understand the great responsibility and careful deliberation that go into the selection of ministers and the subsequent allocation of portfolios, I regretfully note that, in contrast to the names mentioned above, some ministries, like Defence and Youth, have not been given adequate consideration in the appointment of ministers.

"As a result, their active involvement in governance is essential for the effective representation of their interests.

"Such a ministry ought to be led by someone who is both a young person in thought and physically. We shouldn't go back to the time when people over 60 were designated ministers of youth.

Additionally, Your Excellency, I would like to call your attention to the defence portfolio and implore you to think again about appointing the substantive minister and minister of state in that regard.

The defence ministry should typically be headed by someone who is knowledgeable about our internal and external security threats since it is vital to maintaining the sovereignty and well-being of our country and its population.
