Court reschedules Emefiele's arraignment in connection with an alleged N6.9 billion fraud

The judge had to reschedule Mr. Emefiele's arraignment despite the fact that he
was present when he was accused of an N6.9 billion fraud.
The expected
arraignment of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN), on accusations of procurement fraud in the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Thursday was postponed because of the
absence of a co-defendant.

The co-defendant, Sa'adatu Ramalan-Yaro, was
reportedly unable to appear in court despite being represented by counsel due to
health issues. However, Mr. Emefiele was present and appeared to be waiting to
be charged with 20 counts of conspiracy and procurement fraud.

Godwin
Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was
supposed to be arraigned on accusations of procurement fraud before the Federal
Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Thursday, but it was postponed
due to the absence of a co-defendant. Sa'adatu Ramalan-Yaro, a co-defendant, was
said to be unwell and unable to appear in court despite being represented by
counsel.
The case involved 20 counts of conspiracy and procurement fraud, but
Mr. Emefiele was present and looked to be scheduled for arraignment.
The case
was heard by Judge Hamzat Muazu of the FCT High Court's Maitama Division.
Mohammed Abubakar, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), informed the court
that Mrs. Ramalan-Yaro "is indisposed to be" the defendant after the suspended
CBN governor climbed the defendant's box.
